Midtown Urban Renewal Plan Area

The Fort Collins City Council approved the creation of a Midtown Urban Renewal Plan Area and the Prospect South TIF District in a unanimous vote at their September 6 meeting.

A Midtown Urban Renewal Plan Area (URPA) will allow private developers to apply for public financing assistance for certain aspects of redevelopment projects through tax increment financing (TIF).

The first project supported by URA backing will be The Commons, by Capstone Companies.

Midtown Background

The heart of retail in Fort Collins, along College Avenue, is a mix of thriving, updated commercial and tired, outdated vacant store fronts. Not unlike many areas of the country.

A Midtown Redevelopment Study took place in 2010. Recommendations and action items included:
